Cecilia Brækhus, the Norwegian professional boxer and Colombian native, was born on September 28th, 1981, in Cartagena, Colombia. Growing up with Norwegian adoptive parents she began her sports career with kickboxing. From an early age, she collected national and international titles, including the World and European championships.

In 2004, at the age of 22, she continued her success in the sport of boxing. She became Norwegian amateur champion in 2005 and won the European Championships in the light welterweight classification. Three years later, she turned professional.

Her first and successful professional fight was in 2007. After 9 more wins, she became WBA and WBC Welterweight World Champion after defeating Vinni Skovgard. She claimed the WBO World Champion title on May 15th, 2010. Title defenses in Germany, Denmark and Finland followed. On September 13th, 2014, she unified her titles with the IBF title, winning over former world champion Ivana Habazin. This meant she was holding the titles of four major boxing federations.

Furthermore, she received the IBO title in 2015. She succeeded in all of her 28 professional fights, 7 times ending with a KO.

In April 2015, the Klitschko Management Group (KMG), IMG and First Lady Promotions announced their cooperation. KMG and IMG take an advisory role to the best female boxer in the world and are responsible for her personality and TV rights. Besides her new partners, Brækhus  also made some adjustments in her corner. On the suggestion of Wladimir Klitschko, she started to train with Johnathon Banks, who previously prepared Wladimir for several title defenses.

Her first bout in this new arrangement took place in Halle/Westfalen, Germany, on February 27th 2016 against Uruguayan Chris Namus in which she defended her titles with an unaminous decision. The fight was on the undercard of the world championship fight between Marco Huck and Ola Afolabi, to which KMG contributed as marketer of TV rights.
